Westaway Sails was formed in 1971 and since then has been at the forefront
of sail design and engineering.
Now headed by top British sailor John Pollard, the company has developed
specific sails for all shapes and sizes of boats and all conditions -
for both racing and cruising.
Every aspect of sailmaking, from the initial research, design and manufacture
is taken seriously by our expert staff - some of which have been with
us for more than 25 years. At Westaway Sails, we make sails for your boat
that we would be happy to sail with on our own.
Unusually the loft carries out the whole process of making sails in-house
- from the initial design of the sails through to cutting the panels and
making the finished sail.
The very latest in technology is integrated with high standards of craftsmanship
on the loft floor, cutting down on waste and enabling our customers to
receive great service and realistic prices.
Sails can be made using more modern methods such as using a glue steam
technology or they can still be stitched in the traditional way.
Other services offered by Westaway Sails include contract work for a number
of classes of boats, a repair and alteration service and winter maintenance.
The loft is situated 15 miles east of Plymouth in Ivybridge, Devon, England, next to the A38 expressway and has collection and delivery points nationwide.
